Everything Scottish drivers ask us about AdBlue contamination — plain answers, no jargon.
AdBlue is a colourless, non-toxic solution of urea and de-ionised water. Modern diesel vehicles inject a fine mist of it into the exhaust to break down harmful nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water. It is NOT a fuel — it has its own separate tank, usually filled from a smaller blue-capped nozzle.
AdBlue is water-based and non-flammable. If added to diesel, it sinks to the bottom of the tank. If the engine is started, the fuel pump draws AdBlue into high-pressure pumps and injectors, causing rapid corrosion, crystallization and catastrophic mechanical failure.
Turn the engine off immediately and remove the key. Do not attempt to drive further. Call our emergency dispatch line right away — our technicians can drain the tank and flush the fuel lines on site to prevent further system damage.
Similar to diesel, AdBlue will not combust in petrol. It causes severe corrosion to petrol fuel pumps, injectors and lines. The tank must be fully drained and flushed before starting.
Fuel inside an AdBlue system degrades the SCR catalyst, heating elements and sensitive sensors. The AdBlue tank must be siphoned and thoroughly flushed with de-ionised fluid.
Most roadside drains and system flushes take between 45 and 60 minutes once our mobile technician arrives at your location.
Mobile AdBlue removal starts from £199 depending on your vehicle model and exact location in Scotland. We provide fixed, upfront telephone quotes with no hidden callout charges.
We cover all of mainland Scotland 24/7 — including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Stirling, Perth, Fife and the Scottish Borders.
Yes. All our technicians hold Safety Pass Alliance (SPA) Misfuel qualifications, carry specialized ATEX-certified fuel extraction units, and operate under full commercial liability insurance.
Many motor insurance policies cover accidental misfueling and AdBlue contamination. We provide itemized VAT invoices that can be submitted directly to your insurer.
